Salon Époque
This project presents a refined reinterpretation of classical European residential architecture, where historic architectural detailing is carefully balanced with contemporary minimalism. The space emphasizes proportion, symmetry, and material restraint, allowing architectural elements to become the primary visual language rather than decorative excess.
Spatial Composition & Planning
The room is organized along a strong central axis, anchored by a fireplace and vertically emphasized through a large, gilded mirror and chandelier alignment. This axial composition reinforces classical planning principles, creating visual hierarchy and spatial clarity.
A framed opening between rooms acts as an architectural threshold, producing a layered perspective that enhances depth. The transition between spaces feels ceremonial yet fluid, encouraging visual continuity.
The interior envelope is defined by traditional architectural features:
Decorative crown moldings and ceiling medallions, emphasizing ceiling height and craftsmanship
Wall panel moldings that articulate scale and proportion without overwhelming ornamentation
Parquet wood flooring laid in a herringbone pattern, reinforcing historical authenticity
A carved stone fireplace mantel, serving as the architectural focal point
These elements establish a classical framework that grounds the space historically while remaining adaptable to contemporary use.
Materiality & Palette
The project employs a restrained, tonal palette dominated by warm neutrals and natural materials:
Limestone or marble fireplace surround
Light plaster walls with matte finish
Natural wood flooring
Textured textiles in muted earth tones
